R&D Test Room
Another of the most important stages of the new transmission development process is the test stage where validity of design is validated. At this stage all contingencies and loads are applied to the transmission, and the physical properties are measured with accurate measurement systems. Where necessary, 150% overload levels are achieved. A large number of test models are applied to the prototype transmission and its variations several times. These test processes are important steps in the entire product development process, from the first, second and even third prototype models to the final model to be the manufacturing reference. Multiple R&D and quality rooms may be required for this process, which includes NVH, EMI, Emission, etc. certification tests.
Quality / Durability Testing Room
In order to ensure that the transmission can be finalized at the end of product development, component localization or updating studies, it is necessary to ensure actual conditions on the field in the laboratory environment in real time and to accurately measure all parameters via the transmission. Depending on the component you are working on, up to 5000 hours of durability testing may be required. After only these tests, gearbox can be guaranteed to work well.
Production/ Overhaul Testing Room
The transmission from the overhaul must be absolutely tested like the transmission from manufacturing. After only this test, it can be ensured that the transmission is correctly mounted or assembled. To ensure that a transmission can be shipped under warranty, it must be ensured that the assembly or montage operation is 100% correct. Many parameters such as the suitability of the components used and their compatibility with each other, the correctness of the assembly and assembly processes, the quality control stages at the component level are accepted at the level of operations treated and confirmed with the conformity test report to be given after this test process, or the risk of the product being defective is reduced.
On the other hand, there is a strategic advantage apart from the technical capabilities of transmission used especially in defense industry vehicles. It is not possible to even imagine a vehicle going to a mission to remain on the road due to a transmission failure during an operation or manoeuvre, and it can cause strategic losses that cannot be measured by monetary value. In this case, the transmission warranty coverage is not enough to compensate for this strategic loss. For this reason, even if it is under the dealer’s warranty, every transmission must be tested and sent with a test certificate.
